Tuition for School Subjects
Tuition is available for all levels of primary and high school including ATAR. We are WACE / ATAR specialists with more than 25 years experience assisting students with their final school exams. An accelerated learning program is also available for academically advanced students who wish to progress more quickly or independently of their class curriculum.
Secondary School TutorTutoring for high school students is provided in all areas of mathematics, physics and chemistry. Our tutor emphasises a high level of rigour and precision in the presentation of maths and science. Modern educational practice in schools tends to place an emphasis on tests rather than assignments. Unfortunately this has led to modern students presenting scrappy work with it's consequence of lack of comprehension and memory retention of concepts and methods. Subjects tutored at the tuition centre include:

Primary School TutorTuition is available for primary school kids in maths and science. For students to be successful in mathematics it is vital that a solid foundation is established in primary school. Unfortunately modern Australian schools tend to lack rigour and disciplined practice of mathematics. Another area of maths learning neglected by primary schools is detailed, structured mathematics physically written on the page. Modern mathematics primary school textbooks tend to put a focus on the answer and not the method in which the answer is obtained. However, communication of mathematical ideas is as important as the results. Our tutor therefore emphasises that students layout their maths in a neat, clear and concise manner, with as much detail as possible. This not only assists students in being able to convey mathematical concepts to others but will help to learn their maths far better.
In addition, great emphasis is placed on primary and lower secondary students learning mathematics without the use of a calculator. The teaching of maths in modern Australian schools is heavily technology based. This method of teaching elementary mathematics creates a reliance on technology rather than learning how to use the technology as a useful tool. Modern students grasp of fundamental mathematical concepts is often seriously lacking due to learning on calculators. Mathematics needs to be learnt by actually doing and thereby gain an intuition of numbers and mathematical concepts. Once learnt with rigour by working with pencil and paper, students then have the mathematical knowledge with which to make efficient use of calculators in more advanced mathematics. |
